Definition

  • In the simplest form, separation of dissolved ionizable compounds in silica capillary, due to migration of their ions on application of high electric field. Used to separate proteins, peptides, DNA fragments, inorganic cations and anions. A substitute to chromatography and normally used in combination with mass spectroscopy.
