Concept information

remote sensing survey > airborne sensing > airborne multispectral imaging

Preferred term

airborne multispectral imaging

Definition

  • Imaging reflected (or sometimes emitted) optical electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths that usually fall between 315 nm and 3000 nm from an airborne platform. In contrast to imaging spectroscopy and standard photography, multispectral imaging captures the incoming radiation in four up to ten adjacent spectral bands that are commonly between 20 nm to 100 nm wide.
