Preferred term

forward-looking studies

Definition

  • Studies aiming at providing information and advice for shaping the future. The results of forward-looking studies can be fed into the foresight processes, as well as into other strategic decision-making processes, but taken alone they cannot deliver the governance-related benefits that foresight processes offer. Examples of forward-looking studies are environmental outlooks and scenario and megatrend studies.
