  • Figures of speech are ways of expression that deviate from literal statement or common usage of speech. They are specific expressive choices that emphasize, clarify, or embellish both written and spoken language. These speech patterns are related to: a) the grammatical agreement of the words; b) the position of the words in the sentence; c) the meaning of the words; d) the completeness of the speech.
