Scope note
- The principles that determine the affiliation of a person, upon their birth, to a kinship group, and define the biological and social relationships with the other members of this group. Descent is based upon consanguinity bonds and is acknowledged by persons within and/or beyond the kinship group; thus, it regulates the transfer of goods, as well as the inheritance of social identities and statuses.
