Scope note
- People who move and settle down over a relatively long range of geographical distance and for a relatively long period of time. In their places of settlement, migrants form informal communities according to their ethnic characteristics and their places of origin. Their incorporation into the broader social context, the degree to which they are accepted by it, and the degree to which they preserve a distinct collective identity depend on political, economic, social and cultural factors.
