Scope note
- Armed conflicts between opponent forces during a wider politico-military confrontation, which are included in strategic plans for the achievement of a final goal. Battles vary according to their duration, intensity, size of participant forces, casualties, military means, tactics and forms of conflict. However, it is analytically advisable to consider them all as a single category with its relevant internal differentiations.
