Scope note
- Scientific study of the culture, biology, evolution, and behavior of humans, their ancestors, and their evolutionary relatives, the nonhuman primates. Anthropology is divided into two main subfields: biological or physical anthropology is the life-science branch, whereas cultural anthropology is the social science branch. In the USA, Anthropology includes also as subfields Linguistic anthropology and Archaeology.
