Scope note

  • Volitional clauses are noun sentences introduced with the conjunction 'to' as a complement to the meaning of a verb or, sometimes, of a name. They follow the verbs with austere, linguistic, prohibitive, aesthetic meaning and are used as the subject or as the object of specific verbal categories.
