Scope note
- An office that appears in ancient Greece. The theoroi were a city's representatives at another city's festival. At the festivals the theoroi offered sacrifices in the name of their cities. In other cases, they acted as envoys to receive an oracle from a sanctuary. From the 3rd century BC. theoroi made the announcements of the Panhellenic games to all Greek states.
