Scope note
- Committees consisting of thirty persons, three from each tribe, elected by the Council. In cooperation with the six civil servants, they checked the admission of the citizens to the Assembly by distributing to them the "symbols" to ensure that only Athenian citizens attended the Assembly. This checking was particularly important as any violator was punished by death.
