Scope note

  • Hesitational clauses are introduced with the hesitant conjuctions like 'not to', or it expresses some fear, hesitation about something unpleasant that may or may not happen. These clauses depend on verbs that express fear or anxiety, and they are used as an object, as an explanation and as a subject (rarely).
