Scope note
- Narrative technique in which a secondary narration is embedded into the main narration, interupting the time flow of the main narration. It consists of a story within a story. Homer's Odyssey makes use of this device; Odysseus' adventures at sea are all narrated by Odysseus to the court of king Alcinous in Scheria.
